For Adoptive Parents - What To Pack For Baby

You will most likely be staying in the state where your child is born for a period of ten (10) days to two (2) weeks from beginning to end . While you can always pick up the things you need after baby arrives , you may not want to have to be bothered with shopping trips in the midst of the baby's birth, etc.

There are a few items that we recommend taking with you:

1) Car Seat

2) 5 to 7 lightweight baby gowns (the kind that tie at the bottom)

3) 1 to 3 lightweight blankets

4) a "going home" outfit for the baby

5) a small keepsake for your birthmother (necklace, bracelet, book, etc.)

With regard to other baby items you will need, you can purchase them after you arrive. Also, the hospitals tend to load you up with a good supply of the most necessary items. Items you will most likely need to purchase during your stay include bottles, diapers, wipes, pacifier, burp cloths, baby wash, rubbing alcohol, etc.

Don't forget your camera, (if digital, extra batteries), film, video camera, and phone list. Everyone at home will be bugging you to e-mail pictures of the baby within hours of his/her birth.
